Free CMMC readiness calculator for SMBs

Are you ready for CMMC? Find out in 3 minutes. Free.

If your business works with the Department of Defense or federal contractors, CMMC compliance may be required. This calculator shows where you stand.

What the CMMC readiness checklist covers

This calculator is a short self-reported review of fifteen practices across Access Control, Incident Response, Configuration Management, Identification & Authentication, and Risk Assessment. It also asks about federal work, CUI, and your target level. Use those qualification answers to frame the discussion, not as proof of a contractual requirement.

The qualification answers and target level are recorded but do not change the scoring formula. The same fifteen-item checklist is used for the result. It is not an assessment of every CMMC requirement, an official assessment, or a substitute for determining the actual information and systems in scope.

How the score and domain results work

Each Yes answer earns two points, In Progress earns one, and No earns zero. The overall percentage is the total divided by thirty, rounded to a whole number. Each domain contains three questions and uses a six-point maximum for its percentage.

The displayed labels are Ready at eighty percent or more, Partially Ready from fifty percent, and Not Ready below fifty percent. These are the calculator’s summary bands only. Even a full score reflects your answers to this limited checklist; it does not establish CMMC certification, formal readiness, or compliance with a contract.

What to prepare before answering

Use evidence where available: account and access records, a system inventory, configuration documentation, response procedures, or a dated risk review. If work has started but is not implemented, In Progress distinguishes it from a completed practice. Where evidence is missing, record the uncertainty rather than treating a policy’s existence as proof of operation.

The Top 3 gaps display lists the first non-Yes answers in questionnaire order. It is not a severity ranking or an assessor’s remediation priority. Review the affected requirements, system boundary, and available safeguards before deciding which action is most urgent.

From a checklist to an assessment plan

Identify the contract requirement, applicable assessment path, and systems that handle covered information. Build a requirement-level evidence record, assign gap owners, and follow current official CMMC guidance for any permitted remediation process. Different standards and revisions must not be mixed into one assumed scoring method.

Name and email are requested when you submit; the submission stores your answers and returns the score. The report download action uses the browser’s print facility. This checklist is educational planning support, not legal advice or an independently verified assessment of your organization.
